Kite Flying on Jockey's Ridge

I am not a kite hobbyist. I discovered this store sort of randomly. In a weekend stay in the Outer Banks, I was at Jockey Ridge State Park (the largest system of sand dunes on the East Coast, and quite amazing in its own right) and saw lots of people flying kites. One woman was flying an airplane-shaped kite and I asked her where she got it.

"Just outside the park, on the main road, at Kitty Hawk Kites," she responded.

And so I went, and bought a kite (a simple one), and proceeded to fly it on the high winds and vast expanses of the sand dunes. Kite-flying, I discovered, is one of life's simple pleasures. There I was, barefoot on the dunes, kicking up the sand as I ran. My rainbow-colored kite sparkled in the sunlight against a cloudless blue sky.

It was one of the most exhilarating days of my life, and all thanks to Kitty Hawk Kites.

Over the Ocean at Dawn...

On Friday my wife and I had our first hang gliding lesson at your school. I am now hooked on hang gliding! Saturday morning at 3 am I saw a hang glider off our 5th floor ocean side room at the Ramada. This person remained there till after 8 am. I have attached a jpeg formatted photo of this person at about 6:30 am...here is the first photo a second will follow. If you know who this person is I would be happy to send them one of the originals( we got double prints). I learned a lot about hang gliding by just observing this graceful flyer! Thank you

Kayaking On The Sound...

Just wanted to let you know that I took a kayaking trip on the sound last Friday. I highly recommend our guide, Gavin. He was excellent. He was enthusiastic and quite knowledgeable about the wildlife in the sound. I learned a great deal and had an exciting trip!! I hope he is back again next year!!! If not, thank him for me and wish him all the best in the future. Hope Bonnie passes you all by!!

Hi, my name is Amanda. I just wanted to E-Mail you and tell you that I loved Kitty Hawk Kites Inc. I had an awesome time hang gliding! I live in RI and was visiting my Uncle in VA Beach, and I went with him along with two cousins from France. I just wanted to let you know that I had a great time, the instructors were so friendly and I just loved everything about it. Keep up the great work!
